Our Teachers

All of our teachers are passionate about music and the development of children.

They create a fun, informal, social setting that spurs engagement and supports each child's musical development.

Jennie has performed extensively in opera, recitals, and choral music, and she first came to Music Together® while teaching preschool in New York. After teaching MT in Manhattan for two years, Jennie took the leap and founded Metro Music Together¨ in January, 1998. She holds a B.M. in Voice Performance from Northwestern University and a M.Ed. in Creative Arts in Learning at Lesley College. In addition to teaching/directing MMT, Jennie has taught Solfege (sight-singing) at the Suzuki School of Newton and sang profesionally at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Newton Lower Falls from 2000-2006. In 2003, Jennie founded "Conscious Cabaret", a venue that explores contemporary life issues such as gender and class, and has performed throughout the Boston metro area. In 2004, the Center for Music and Young Children in Princeton, NJ awarded Jennie Music Together Certification Level II status for outstanding achievement in teaching, musicianship, program philosophy, and parent education. She began leading teachers' skills workshops nationally for MT, LLC in 2005. Jennie assumed the role of Northeast Regional Representative for the Early Childhood Music and Movement Association from 2004-2006. She is the proud mama of Sophie Veronica D'Alessandro (b. 9.28.04) and Atticus Jude D'Alessandro (b. 7/6/06).

Jana Kahn was born and raised in Canada and grew up with European parents who loved to sing and play music.  Singing in the choir and participating in theater arts throughout her school years, Jana is excited about the opportunity to share her love of music with Music Together families.  Jana plays the guitar and has enjoyed participating in Music Together classes with her two daughters for several years.

Elise is a native of the South Shore and has participated in Music Together classes in Hingham with her two children for the past several years. Since her youth Elise has been a member of various singing groups. As a member of the Dartmouth College Glee Club she performed in Gilbert and Sullivan Operettas and travelled around the country on singing tours. Elise has a B.A. from Dartmouth College and an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in Marketing. Currently, Elise is a member of an adult choir in Hingham and volunteers at her childrens' preschool. She also enjoys playing the piano. We welcome Elise and her enthusiasm and love for music and children.

A native of Massachusetts, Katy began her musical studies with violin and viola at age 9. She holds a B.M in Viola Performance from the University of Texas at Austin and has performed in both professional symphony and opera orchestras, and as a chamber musician. Katy is a Suzuki certified violin/viola teacher and has taught private lessons, group classes, chamber music, and music theory to children and young adults in both the U.T String Project and at South Shore Conservatory. She has began attending Music Together classes with her own children in 2002 and recently completed the Music Together training. Committed to helping families discover the joy of making music together, she is thrilled to be joining Metro Music Together!

Adrienne Perfetuo, B.A. in Dance and Performance Studies from Roger Williams University . She has been studying dance since 1987, from Ballet to Jazz, Tap to Hip Hop, although her main focus is Modern and Creative dance. She is also and accomplished figure skater. Teaching and choreography are huge passions for Adrienne. "Working with children is so fulfilling and rewarding, there isn't anything I would rather do," says Adrienne. She currently teaches creative movement and drama in the kindergarten and preschool programs at the South Shore Conservatory. Adrienne is looking forward to furthering her career with Metro Music Together this fall.

A native of Massachusetts with a BA in Early Childhood Education and Psychology from Rhode Island College, Becky taught preschool for 14 years. She is now in her third year as Director of Religious Education at Channing Church in Rockland, MA where she also leads a children’s choir. In addition, Becky is a certified Children’s Yoga instructor and host of Girls Night Out, a monthly self-esteem workshop for pre-teens at the Hanson Holistic Center. Her passion as a teacher and mother led her to homeschool her three children Jordan, Sydney and Owen. They began attending Music Together classes in 2005. In 2007 Becky became a core member of Woman Song at South Shore Conservatory, performing for women in several venues on the South Shore . She recently completed the Music Together teacher training and looks forward to sharing her love of making music with children and their families.

Connie Marcotte, Intern

Connie comes to Music Together with a background in Oboe Performance and Music Therapy. She has worked extensively with students of all ages and varying abilities. In addition to playing the oboe professionally, Connie has experience in choral conducting and plays the piano and guitar. She has recently taught some Mommy and me classes at the YMCA in Hanover and looks forward to harnessing her love for early childhood music to the Music Together curriculum at South Shore Conservatory. She will be interning with Jennie at SSC throughout the spring and summer and upon successful conclusion of her Music Together training in August will begin teaching at SSCC in the fall.
